James M. Carroll is an associate of the firm and focuses his practice on personal injury, employment, workers compensation, and civil rights law.

Mr. Carroll received his Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude from Marquette University in 1998.  He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.  Before attending law school, Mr. Carroll taught high school English in the Milwaukee Public Schools.  He graduated cum laude from Marquette University Law School in 2008, where he was Senior Note & Comment Editor of the Marquette Law Review.  His student note, “The Causal Nexus Doctrine: A Further Limitation on the Employer’s ADA Duty of Reasonable Accommodation in the Seventh Circuit,” 91 Marq. L. Rev. 839 (2008), received the Silver Quill Award for outstanding student writing.  Mr. Carroll also interned with Federal Defender Services of Wisconsin in the spring of 2007.

Mr. Carroll has represented injured persons in circuit court and has handled matters before the Wisconsin Equal Rights Division (ERD), Worker’s Compensation Division, Unemployment Insurance Division, and the Social Security Administration.  A favorable decision in a worker’s compensation matter that he tried in 2010 was recently upheld by the Labor and Industry Review Commission, Haberman v. Shoreline Real Estate (LIRC February 28, 2011).  He is admitted to practice in the state of Wisconsin and is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Association for Justice.
